Maryam....Attentive!

My first write up after almost a year due to my not focusing in writing but more towards reading other people's stories via facebook. It surely distracted your right brain from being creative. Photo of Maryam attentively watching her brother Muhammad participated in his tadika haluan insan sport games got me thinking of writing again in this 'frozen for a year' blog. InsyaAllah more will come. Stay focus! Ramadhan is around the corner.

Hot or Cool All The Time - it's your choice

27th July 2011 - My car engine temperature suddenly shot up while i was on the way to the office a few days before Ramadhan and had to stop at a Petrol Station not far from Furnitures Shops. Had to take leave to get it repaired.

There was a problem with the switch which did not trigger the radiator fan to operate should the engine temperature reach certain degrees. with the advice of mechanic, instead of replacing the damaged switch, he by-passed the switch and now everytime i switch on the car engine, the radiator fan will start operating even if the temperature is below freezing.

Well, in Malaysia it is very unlikely that we get the snow & surely enough we don't place out car in the freezer like chicken!

10 dulu dan 60 sekarang

Itulah harga ais-krim Malaysia masa umur 9 tahun dan harganya sekarang yg dijual di Sekolah Rendah Agama Integrasi Bandar Baru Bangi (SRAI). Dulu banyak jugak yg dijual dengan kak Long bila mak buat ais-krim Malaysia ni. Dah cair pun ada yg nak beli. Pelik jugak!

Ada lebih kurang 29 tahun perjalanan masa sehingga menjadi harganya juga turut berbeza pada jarak yg agak besar. Itulah rasmi hidup...lazimnya tiada yg akan turun dari sudut harga barangan...yg turun hanyalah hujan!.

1. Asam boi (not sure whether this is the right spelling)
2. Ais krim bubur kacang

4. Sarsaparilla (again, not sure about the spelling)
Kenapa begitu banyak?

Sebenarnya, ianya utk dijual oleh Balqis (dgn bantuan Ibrahim & Yusuf - walaupun Yusuf lebih banyak makan dari menjual) sempena karnival SRAI yg berlangsung pada 3 & 4 Julai. Bagi mereka pendedahan sedikit kaedah menjual & hargai betapa rumit utk mencari rezeki. Not sure how much profit they are making out of the Malaysian ice-cream sales?

Project 2011....

2 new projects in 2011 almost completed at home in Kg Raja as per photos showed above. Insya-Allah by Ramadhan no more construction work around the house.

Balqis, Ibrahim & Yusuf are attending a Taekwando Motivational Camp for 3-day & 2-night at Paya Indah Wetland where they will stay in a dormitory with other attendees.

Sirap Bandung Tarik!

Teluk Intan, Perak -

Kelazimannya teh tarik atau kopi tarik tetapi keistimewaan di Teluk Intan adalah Sirap Bandung Tarik spt yg terpapar di atas. Lokasi ni diketahui sewaktu dalam perjalanan balik ke KL selepas menghadiri majlis perkahwinan Khairi & Hanim di Kg Gajah bersama dengan Afandi.

Memang luar biasa sedikit kaedahnya. Biasanya cedok air bandung dan masuk dalam gelas tetapi yg ini - sedut dari dalam bekas & kemudian masukkan ke dalam gelas. Rasanya juga sedikit berbeza - campur sedikit air kelapa katanya! Boleh lenguh juga tangan kalau kena tarik 200 gelas air bandung sehari. Resipi turun temurun kata penjual tu. Boleh buat peace sign - selepas minta kebenaran utk ambil gambar beliau.

I even bought 2 packets home for the family....

Another Bakawali Blooming...

It's the 2nd time that our Bakawali plant (got it from Ayah Long-Kerteh) since last Nov 2010. This time around the atmosphere was different altogether. Why? Because all family members eagerly waited for the flower to bloom - to the extend spent the night at the living hall in order to experience the blooming of Bakawali.

Alhamdulillah - at midnight, i woke them up one by one to have a glimpse of the Bakawali eventhough most of them were half asleep. Maryam also tagged along...

Obey Your Parents-Choral Speaking

Ibrahim's took part in Amal Islami (KAMIL), choral speaking event on 30th April 2011 entitle 'Obey Your Parents'. Very much related to the recent Hari Ibu - well we should be celebrated it everyday. His performance failed to convince the judges that they deserve to win eventhough the competitor's performance was very much lower in quality compared to his. Cis La Vie!

I share the wordings for some of the pronouciations weren't that clear.

Assalamualaikum and a very good morning to honourable judges, teachers and fellow friends.
In thunder and lightning, here we come the children of today presenting to you 'OBEY YOUR PARENTS'

Children, obey your parents (individual)

Who are our parents?
Of course your mother and your father
Okay, I know

Who love your parents?
Me..me..me..and me
We all love our parents very much!
Every muslim mush show goodness and mercy to his parents throughout thier lives.
The children mush show love and gratitude to their parents.

Why must we obey our parents?
We must obey them because...
A mother has borne burden during nine months of pregnancy,
Has undergone birth pain when delivering the baby,
And has sacrificed her comfort and sleep to care for her children.
Ewek ewek ewek...
The baby is crying. The mother must wake up! The father?
The father...Helps the mother prepare the milk (2x)
Wow! So sweet.. That is our parents sacrifice.
So..We must say 'Thank You' to them.

Besides that, we must obey our parents because...
They provide protection for us, I have a beautiful house in Taman Mawar...oooo..
Provide many types of food for us..ummmm..yummy yumm
Buy beautiful clothes for us. My mother bought them at JUSCO superstore..
Who provide them? Our parents provide them

After Allah, our parents deserve our thanks and obedience for the favours they had given us
We must do good to them
And pray to Allah that he blesses and heve mercy on them (Prayer for Parents0

A famous Hadtih says, "Paradise lies under the feet of the mother"
This means, doing good deeds to our mother lead to Paradise
Allah has placed the respect for parents just one level below the belief in Allah and true worship of Him.
The Propher (SAW) said:
'The pleasure of the lord is in the pleasure of the father, and the displeasure of the lord is in the displeasure of the father'...

Not SB but LSB

now i know what SB stands for, well actually it is LSB as i found out from the test form used to check Maryam last Feb 2011.

LSB = Bilirubin Neonatal

Just look at the long list of test that Dr needs to know. No wonder it takes 6 years + a few more years to be Dr Pakar!

Now 5, then 4

Photos above taken on 3rd April 2011 at a photo shop near Giant Bangi while underneath it is photo taken in 2009 (Balqis was in standard 4).

4 siblings then & 5 now - Balqis (12 yr), Ibrahim (10 yr), Yusuf (8 yr), Muhammad (4 yr) & Maryam (2 months plus - sharing the same birth date as Ibrahim).

Jaundice - SB333

Normally it's below SB200

Maryam has to stay for almost a week in Hospital Pantai due to jaundice. The above readings showed the reduction in jaundice reading. At SB215, Maryam was discharged - with the help of the lights (in the photos) & homeopathy Dr Hassan.

Muhammad became the loyal guardian to Maryam & her mama at Hospital Pantai room 527.

It is a coincidence for only Balqis & Maryam experience a heavy jaundice - both daughter unlike Muhammad, Yusuf & Ibrahim.

The question that still unanswered is, what is SB stand for?

Name of Jesus's mom

Alhamdullilah on 21st Jan 2011@2131hrs, my 5th child - a girl - was born at Hospital Pantai, Bangsar. The very day my second child, Ibrahim was born. Hence they both will celebarate the same birth date base on Georgian Calendar. However in terms of Hijriah Calendar it's not the same for Ibrahim was born in the month of Syawal whereas my 5th child in Safar.

Before we left for Hospital Pantai that day, Aza managed to soak Bunga Siti Fatimah - bought in Madinah, in water to check whether it was time to deliver or not (kata orang tua, kalau mengembang, maknanya dah dekat lah tu)...

Photos above start with bunga Siti Fatimah, then the clock in the delivery room right after Maryam was born, Maryam after she has been cleaned by the nurse...and last photo of bunga Siti Fatimah at home after we came back from Hospital - fully bloomed.

One the nurse (Indian) did ask me the name of my daughter - I told him Maryam. The she asked me what it means? It was a bit difficult to answer in a lay man term hence i decided to explain in the most simple way..Maryam = The name of Jesus's mum (Jesus = Isa)

Recently i received an email from a close friend with an attachment. I had a good laugh... for what it tells is quite true..

Which way is Pagoh?

Kubu yg menyambut pemandu yg exit di Tol Pagoh

Akan berlaku sedikit kerumitan kpd pemandu yang ingin mencari arah tuju (unless you have a GPS as the guide) sekiranya mengharapkan 100% kpd kubu yg menunujukkan arah jalan.

WHY?

Sebab tulisannya terlalu kecil utk dibaca. Berkemungkinan berlaku kesilapan dalam pengurusan bajet - too much money allocated to buid the Welcome Wall & in the end not enough fund to put up proper signages for 'Pagoh' & 'Muar'. Hence low budget come with small & tiny alphabet put up on the wall.

Luckily before the junction, PLUS has already put up big sigange to remind drivers, which way to go. So what's the purpose of having the wall in the first place

Or is it by having such big wall is a sign of Pagoh maju....

Moral of the story, don't rely 100% on the sign!

Telurnya halal! Isinya Bagaimana pula?

Telur penyu boleh dimakan. Penyunya tak boleh. Memang ada terbaca artikel berkaitan perkara ini dlm Majalah Solusi. Need to find the article and share it soon...

Bagaimana pulak dengan Belangkas? Recently ke Kota Tinggi dan kawan di sana ajak ke kedai yang jual telur Belangkas. Not just that, ada juga siput laut yg sangat mirip bentuknya mcm siput babi walaupun cengkerangnya berbeza warna.

Bila rasa was-was, lazimnya memang tak cuba lah makanan sebegini. Sama mcm sewaktu di Seoul pd tahun 2008 dulu, rasa was-was nak makan kat kedai Arab di Itaewon yg berlokasi berhampiran dengan Grand Mosque Seoul.

p/s: Di lokasi gerai belangkas inilah, baru jelas & faham kenapa wujud ungkapan 'macam belangkas'- kalau tengok dari foto tu, ada 2 ekor belangkas. Yg atas dan kecil tu jantan sementara di bawah dan besar tu adalah betina. Need to catch both of them utk dptkan telur belangkas.

Nasi minyak yg baru masak

4 Dis 2010 yg lalu, adakan sedikit kenduri di Kuala Terengganu. Hujan tidak berhenti turun sejak 2-3 hari yg lalu sehingga memaksa proses memasak di buat secara in-door (in fact memang biasa buat in-door sebab ada sengkuap yg memang ayah buat). Led by Ayah Teh & Achik, maka i took the opportunity to learn a few tricks / tips to prepare nasi minyak.

What I learned:
1. For each gantang of beras, must add segenggam garam
2. 1 Gantang beras is enough to serve approximately 40 people
3. The current rate if you were to as caterer to prepare for weddings : 1 Gantang ranging RM280 - RM300. Maknanya sekepala lebih kurang RM7 - RM8
4. 250 grams gula utk 5 gantang beras (elok jugak tak bubuh byk sangat utk elak diabetes & gula pun dah mahal)

Insya-Allah tahun depan, i'll ask Ayah Teh to teach us how to prepare nasi beriyani utk aqiqah 'Maryam'- scan di Klinik Dr Hamid Arshat pd 6 Dis 2010 more or less confirmed the gender.

Let's try kibas for a change!

Nipah Banana...

Menyisir pisang nipah - tandan ke dua di tepi rumah

2 tandan pisang nipah yg hampir serentak masaknya. Tetapi disebabkan kelewatan utk menebang, maka sebahagiannya menjadi rezeki kpd makhluk Allah yg lain spt burung. Itu adalah antara kelebihan bertanam. Rezeki boleh dikongsi dgn makhluk sejenis atau tidak. Even that, nak menyisirnya took me quite some time.

Just look at the tandan in above picture..now we are in the midst of distributing them to neighbours..

Muhammad dah lancar dalam menyebut perkataan 'banana' walaupun kadang-kadang terdengar mcm 'ayah nak gi mana?'

Had to pay a visit to Bukit Sentosa (ext at Bkt Beruntung) - TNB Warehouse recently. The location was so remote that I have to take a 4 km ride before we can have our lunch but it turned out fine coz I experienced the '3 layer tea' - First layer: tea, 2nd layer : milk & 3rd layer : gula nipah.

It's best to mix them up first b4 you drink it for I didn't hence the the 3 layer tea only taste as gula nipah...then I learnt my lesson.

Have a go at it if you have the chance..

Terharu yg terpendam

'Mama, Yusuf dapat naik kelas 2 Amanah.'

Betul ke? (kata hati)

Memang sedikit sukar utk mempercayainya.

Bukan kerana Yusuf sering tidak berkata benar.

Tapi intonasi dan cara pemakluman yg selamba gayanya menyebabkan mama & ayah tercengang. Hinggakan ke hari sebenar penyampaian hadiah barulah dapat pengesahan selepas melihat buku cenderahati.

Utk Balqis - tidak dijangka boleh meraih tempat ke-2 tetapi yakin bahawa Insya-Allah boleh kekalkan prestasi Mumtaz & 5A. Wbgpun kakak dapat 4A1 & Mumtaz. Alhamdullilah. Yet to beat Al-Fatih

Utk Ibrahim - tempat ke 5 keseluruhan walaupun gagal utk dapat 3 tempat teratas. Besar kemungkinan akibat kemerosotan dapat tempat ke 10 pd peperiksaan yg lalu menyebabkan Ibrahim put in extra effort. The first 4 places above him are all women! Ibrahim adalah lelaki tunggal pertama. Budak no satu adalah adik kpd budak yg dapat no 1 kelas Balqis.

Wbgpun syukur Alhamdulillah atas kejayaan anak-anak. Bukan setakat pencapaian ilmu semata-mata yg menjadi sasaran tetapi akhlak yg baik menjadi tunjang bagi segala-galanya.

Pandai + akhlak baik = 1
Kurang pandai + akhlak baik = 2
Pandai + akhlak buruk = 3
Kurang pandai + akhlak buruk = 4

Jauhkan yg 3 & 4 & strive ke arah 1...

Salam terharu yg terpendam atas kejayaan anak-anak. Now i understand why arwah Ayah keep on reminding us to study hard & keep our foot on the ground...
